Lego Mosaics
I was obsessed with Lego as a kid. I have Danish heritage, so it made me feel connected to the brand. I created my signature, 2RE, using Lego pieces at the bottom right of the canvas. I wanted to make art that could express this. Instead of using “studs-up” style that is more common, I wanted to used a side view because it was stronger and it created a more flat image. There were two interesting consequences of this: the “pixels” were taller than they were wide, and I needed two layers to create stability. I left the back of the painting visible so that you could see the lateral construction.

I created 4 works in total. Two of the works sold, and two of the works were destroyed. One fell off the wall in a gallery and I have no pictures of it. The other was only partially destroyed and became an installation.
