Brewery

Here is a link to a copy of the the old 8-Bit Brewery site.

In 2000, after graduating university, a friend and I started brewing beer. I named the project 8-Bit Brewery, a reference to 80's videogames. At our peak, we brewed eighty-gallon batches across three fermenters. The operation never turned a profit, but the experience was instructive and enjoyable. It allowed me creative expression through beer offerings at gallery openings and label design. My partner eventually bought my share and used the equipment to teach brewing classes.

I had registered the domain 8bitbrewery.com. Years later, a brewpub called 8 Bit Brewing contacted me to acquire it. I sold them the domain and subsequently renamed my brewing efforts to Nommesen Beer. When I visited the brewpub to finalize the sale, they offered a complimentary burger, several beers, and a growler to take home. The brewery features old-school video games and uses the tagline "Beer with byte." Though I could not make the concept work myself, seeing it realized by others was gratifying. I wish them well and recommend a visit to anyone in Murieta, California.
