Photography

I have been engaged with photography for as long as I can remember. In high school, I developed my own film. I worked through the transition from film to digital photography. Some of my work has been commercial, including shoots with models. However, my primary practice is art photography, or the capture of reference material for later manipulation in other artistic processes.

In my portraits, I aim to capture the essence of a person. Framing is the aspect of image-making I find most compelling. I travel frequently and look for distinctive angles and moods.

When the photograph itself is the final work, my focus is on portraiture and composition. When the photograph serves as source material, it becomes the foundation for other artistic outcomes. My photographs are the basis for three bodies of work: the Reciprocating Nudes series, which evolved out of my work with nude photography; the Wallpaper Series; and my LEGO Mosaics.
