Reciprocating Nudes
Concept
In my series “Reciprocating Nudes,” I am addressing the exploration of the female form as art object. Feminist postmodernist photographers such as Cindy Sherman and Judy Dater addressed this issue by acting as both object an objectifier – model and photographer – in their self portraits. Being male, I confronted the issue by objectifying myself as well. The model becomes the photographer and the photographer becomes the model as both become objects of art.
Method
I photograph a nude model. The model then photographs me nude. The photographs are sold as prints or are used in other works of art.
