Pomoduino
Pomoduino is a physical productivity and learning tool that combines time management, electronics, and hands-on making. The project grew from my own use of the Pomodoro technique, which I use regularly to structure focused work. It is particularly useful to me for maintaining focus while working with ADHD.
I wanted to develop a project that I could bring to makerspaces as I traveled and explored hacker and maker communities around the world. The project was intended as something I could present and teach, and as a way to help fund these travels through workshops and related activities.
I designed the form, visual language, and user experience, including the shape and graphics of the circuit board. While circuit design is not my area of expertise, I worked with engineers to define the physical and visual specifications and directed how the electronics should be integrated into the overall product.
I am also developing Pomoduino as an educational platform. I am planning an online course in collaboration with TroubleMaker Makerspace that will use the project to teach coding, soldering, and time management. The goal is to connect programming and electronics with a practical system for developing focused work habits.
I have given classes in hackerspaces in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. These workshops have helped shape the educational side of Pomoduino and allowed me to develop the project through hands-on teaching and interaction with maker communities.
Pomoduino brings together product design, hardware development, education, and productivity. It began as a personal tool and a way to engage with maker communities internationally, and has developed into a platform for teaching both technical skills and practical approaches to focused work.
